Needles and pins:
After 15 years teaching hand-sewing to children every day, I know that I poke myself at least once a day, and so does at least one of my students. No one has ever needed more than a little band-aid. Most of the time we just shriek and then go to the faucet to pour some cold water over it. It stops the pain. A kiss on the poke helps too!
Needles and pins are very sharp and not a toy. Here is how you can work safely with them:
• You only need one pin and a needle at a time, so don't have more than that around you.
• If you misplace a pin or needle it is an EMERGENCY! Stop everything you're doing and don't continue until you have found it.
• When someone is close by as you sew, make sure to not poke them when you pull your thread tight.
• When you stop working on your project, put the pin and needle in a safe place, away from little children.
Pellets and Fluff:
Pellets are fun to play with. Your little brother or sister and your dog and cat, will love to play with them too. But they are not good for you! Your pets and little siblings can choke on them and get very sick. You can not eat them, they will make you sick. And even though the material is approved by our government, I am not sure that it is healthy to touch that plastic too much. I wash my hands after I have had to dig in them. Make sure to clean up every pellet you see after you finished your work for the day.
Fluff too can be
dangerous. I don't let my cats play with it, in case they would swallow a piece of it. You should do the same and make sure that your little brother or sister doesn't play with it. |
